Roofing:
How do I know when I need a new roof?
  • Are there any blistered, curled, or split shingles? A few can be repaired, but if the general appearance of the roof is poor, it may be time to re-roof.
  • Are there loose or missing shingles or tiles?
  • Do you see any exposed nails? They are a source of leaks.
  • If your roof is covered with composition (asphalt) shingles, look for dark patches indicating the granular coating has worn away.
  • Look for significant accumulation of granules in your rain gutters. Some granules are normal but a lot, combined with dark patches on your shingles, is a sign of an aging roof.
  • Look for sagging along the ridges or in the middle of the roof.
  • Any rusty metal or displaced shingles along the valley are signs of roof weaknesses.
  • Inspect the flashing around plumbing vents and chimneys. Loose shingles or rusty, loose flashing is another sign of trouble.
  • Is your roof simply past its warranty period and beyond its life expectancy?
Do I need to replace my roof because it’s leaking?
Not necessarily. Leaks can result from flashings that come loose or a section of the roof system being damaged. A complete roof system failure, however, generally is irreversible and a result of improper installation or choice of materials or the roof system installation is inappropriate for the home or building.
Siding:

Do I need to replace all of my siding if only a small section is damaged?
The answer usually depends on the age of the siding. Many siding manufacturers only make certain wood grains and colors for 10 years. If your siding is more than 10 years old, we can remove a piece of damaged siding and send it to be analyzed at Itelinc.com in Florida. This process will help us determine the exact match for your siding and whether or not it is being manufactured and/or is still available anywhere throughout the U.S. In the event that your siding has been discontinued and stock is no longer available, the report will identify the next closest comparable match. We can then provide you with the closest match for your small repair. If your damaged siding is part of an insurance claim and the Itelinc.com report reveals no exact match, our staff will require that the insurance company pay the difference and re-side your entire house.
Gutters:
Check the gutters closely for sagging and signs of leaks between sections. Are the downspouts firmly in place and directing water away from the house foundation?
